Crompton Amica Pro 15L Geyser Review: 5-Star Value With Limits
Our verdict
The Crompton Amica Pro 15L is a 2 kW, 5-star storage geyser with an 8 bar tank and five-year tank warranty, and it gives the most hot water per rupee of the 15 litre models we tested.
Buy it if
- Budget buyers who still want a 5-star tank rated for high-rise use
- Flats and rented homes where a low upfront cost matters
- Families of three who want a plain, repairable geyser
Skip it if
- Your water is very hard and you want the best lining available
- You want a digital display or app
What we like
- Heated 15 L from 15 °C to 60 °C in about 31 minutes
- 8 bar rating and a multi-function valve for pumped supply
- Capillary thermostat, thermal cut-out and valve give three layers of safety
- Tank has a five-year warranty on retailer listings
What we don’t
- Plastic body looked tired after five weeks of steam
- Glassline lining showed more scale than AO Smith's
- Model codes differ between listings, so confirm before buying

The Crompton Amica Pro 15L is the geyser to look at if you want a 5-star, high-rise-rated tank without paying AO Smith or Havells prices. The trade-off is lining and body quality: it handled daily use well, but it showed more wear and scale than the pricier units.
How fast does it heat a full tank?
A full 15 L tank rose from 15 °C to 60 °C in 31 minutes on the 2 kW element. We drew about 23 litres of water at a 40 °C mix before the temperature began to drop. That covers two buckets of bath water and a little left over for the kitchen. In a cold north Indian morning with inlet water near 9 °C, the same cycle took about 38 minutes.
How much heat does it lose overnight?
With the thermostat at 60 °C and the bathroom at 19 °C, the tank dropped 7 °C over eight hours. That is respectable for the price and matches the 5-star label. Running it for 10 minutes in the morning is enough to take the edge off.
Does it handle hard water?
Our water measured 520 ppm TDS. After six weeks the element wore a visible, easily scraped scale layer, thicker than on the AO Smith. The glassline coating is meant to slow corrosion, but it does not prevent scale on its own. Plan an annual flush and anode check, and avoid setting the thermostat above 65 °C because scale builds faster at higher temperatures.
Is it safe for pumped supply?
The three safeguards are a capillary thermostat, an automatic thermal cut-out and a multi-function valve. The 8 bar rating suits a booster-pump line, but fit a pressure-reducing valve if your pump is oversized. Ask the plumber to confirm earthing, since a missing earth is the usual cause of shock complaints.
What does it cost to run?
For four people in winter we measured about 2.0 kWh a day, roughly ₹480 a month at ₹8 per unit. Standing loss is a modest slice of that, but switching off when the house is empty helps during travel.
What do owners say about installation and service?
Owners praise the low entry price and quick warming, and complain about free-installation promises that come with extra pipe charges. Some also report light leaks at the inlet nipple in the first month, which are usually fixed by re-taping. Crompton’s service network is wide in metros and larger towns, though smaller towns may need a dealer visit.
Is the plastic body a problem?
It is not a safety issue, but it is a durability one. After five weeks of steam the white cover had yellowed slightly near the vent and the label had begun to lift. The tank and element are what matter for life, and those are covered by the warranty, but a wipe with a damp cloth every month keeps the body presentable. Avoid harsh cleaners, which cloud the plastic.
Who should buy something else?
Pick the AO Smith if you live in a very hard-water area, or the V-Guard Calino if you want a digital display and a remote.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We bought the geyser at street price, had it fitted by a local plumber and ran it through a morning bath routine for four people. Heat-up, 40 °C mix volume, overnight heat loss and scale on the element were measured the same way on every 15 L storage model.
We bought this unit at retail price.

Questions buyers ask
Is the Crompton Amica Pro 15L good for high-rise flats?
Yes. The Crompton Amica Pro 15L is listed at 8 bar and includes a multi-function valve, so it suits overhead tanks and most booster pumps.
How long does the Crompton Amica Pro 15L take to heat water?
The Crompton Amica Pro 15L took about 31 minutes to heat a full tank from 15 °C to 60 °C. Colder January inlet water pushes this closer to 38 minutes.
Does the Crompton Amica Pro 15L work with hard water?
It copes but needs care. After six weeks on 520 ppm TDS water we saw a visible scale film on the element, so descale and check the anode once a year.
What warranty comes with the Crompton Amica Pro 15L?
Retailer pages list five years on the tank, two years on the element and two years on the product. Confirm on the warranty card, because listings use different model codes.
