Buying guide · Smart TVs
The Samsung S85H 55-inch OLED is the best smart TV we tested, with perfect blacks, smooth 120 Hz motion, about 9 ms input lag and Samsung's wide service network. The Hisense 55E8S Mini-LED is the main alternative: brighter, much louder and far cheaper, though Hisense service is slower and VIDAA has fewer apps.
Smart TVs
The Samsung S85H 55-inch OLED has the best blacks and motion of any TV here and Samsung's wide service network, though its 20 W speakers and high price keep it a premium choice for dim-room viewers.
Premium Pick
Smart TVs
The Hisense 55E8S is a 55-inch Mini-LED with local dimming, 144 Hz and a 61 W speaker system that offers premium-TV picture quality for far less money, provided you accept slower service.
Best Value
Smart TVs
The TCL 43P7K is the best-value 43-inch 4K QLED Google TV we tested, with noticeably brighter colour than plain LED rivals, though TCL service and installation are inconsistent.
Smart TVs
The Sony BRAVIA 2 K-55S25BM2 is a natural-looking 55-inch 4K Google TV with excellent upscaling of cable and DTH channels, but it costs more than spec-heavy rivals and has only a 60 Hz panel.
Smart TVs
The Samsung UA55UE85AH is a dependable 55-inch Crystal 4K TV with a polished Tizen interface and strong service reach, though its 50 Hz panel and 20 W sound feel basic for the price.
Smart TVs
The LG 43UA82006LA is a straightforward 43-inch 4K webOS TV with an easy interface and LG's wide service network, but its 20 W speakers and 60 Hz panel leave it short of the price-led rivals on features.
Smart TVs
The Xiaomi X Series 43-inch L43MB-AIN is a low-priced 4K Google TV that suits a bedroom or small hall, but its 60 Hz panel, modest brightness and uneven service make it a value pick, not a picture-quality one.
Smart TVs
The Hisense 55E7Q Pro is a 144 Hz QLED with Dolby Vision and Atmos for a low price, but owner reports of panel patches and slow service, plus the app-limited VIDAA U, hold it back.
