Affiliate disclosure
How The Consumer Review earns money: affiliate commissions from retailers like Amazon.in and Flipkart. Commissions never change our verdicts or rankings.
The short version: when you buy something through a link on our site, the retailer may pay us a small commission. You don’t pay anything extra. It never changes what we say about a product.
How affiliate links work
Many of our “Check price” and “Buy” buttons are affiliate links. When you click one and buy from that retailer, the retailer may pay us a share of the sale. The price you pay is the same as if you had gone to the store directly.
These commissions are how we pay for the site. They let us keep our reviews free to read and buy most of the products we test at retail price.
Which retailers we link to
We link to stores where Indian buyers commonly shop, including:
- Amazon.in
- Flipkart
- Croma
- Reliance Digital
- Tata CLiQ
- A brand’s own online store
Not every link earns us a commission. We sometimes link to a store that pays us nothing, because it is the best place to buy that product.
Prices on our pages
Prices change often, especially during sales. Any price we show was checked on the date shown and may have changed since.
We don’t display Amazon prices. Instead, we link you to Amazon.in so you can check the current price yourself. For other retailers, we may show a price along with the date we checked it.
Reviews may also mention the MRP or launch price at the time of the review, for reference.
Commissions never change our verdicts
Our verdicts, scores and rankings come from testing. We decide them before we think about where to link.
A product that pays a higher commission doesn’t get a better score. If the best product in a category has no affiliate link at all, it is still our pick.
We don’t sell placement
We don’t accept payment for reviews, for a place in a buying guide, for a higher ranking or for any other sponsored placement. No paid reviews, ever.
How we label affiliate links
Pages that carry affiliate links show a disclosure before the first link, so you know before you click. We also mark these links as sponsored for search engines.
We aim to follow the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) guidelines on disclosure, which ask that any commercial relationship behind content be made clear to readers. You can read more about how we keep reviews independent in our editorial policy.
