Best Dishwashers in India 2026

Quick answer

The Bosch SMS6ITI00I is the best dishwasher we tested for Indian kitchens: it cleaned burnt dal and oily kadhai best in one cycle and its built-in softener handled 450 ppm tap water. The IFB Neptune VX is the main alternative, a cheaper 12-place machine with wide service reach that washes everyday loads well but needed a second run for burnt dal.

    LG QuadWash DFB424FP Free-Standing 14 Place Dishwasher

    MRP ₹69,990

For large families in open-plan flats: 14 place settings and about 46 dB on Auto, the quietest result in our tests, plus TrueSteam and Wi-Fi. Tawa grease needed a second pass, Auto took 2 hours 20 minutes and it costs well above IFB and Voltas Beko.

    • Measured about 46 dB on Auto, the quietest in this group
    • 14 place settings with a flexible EasyRack Plus top basket
    • Auto cycle took 2 hours 20 minutes in our test

    Best for most families

IFB Neptune VX 12 Place Settings Free-Standing Dishwasher

    MRP ₹44,990

For families of three to five who want a dependable machine without paying Bosch prices: low water use, a built-in softener, a half-load option and the widest service reach of the budget-to-mid models. Drying is only fair, and burnt dal needed a second cycle.

    • About 9 L of water per cycle in our measurement
    • Cleaned plates, katoris and steel tumblers in one Auto cycle
    • Drying is only fair and lids stay damp
  4. Voltas Beko DF14S2 silver free-standing dishwasher, front view

    Best value 14-place

Voltas Beko DF14S2 14 Place Full Size Dishwasher (Silver)

    Best Value MRP ₹51,990

For large families who want 14 place settings without LG or Bosch pricing: it cleaned everyday loads and burnt dal well at about 9.5 L a cycle and carries a 10-year motor warranty. It was the loudest freestanding machine we tested and dries plastic poorly.

    • 14 place settings fit a full family dinner in one load
    • Used about 9.5 L per cycle in our measurement
    • Louder than the LG and IFB at about 53 dB
  5. Best built-in

Bosch Serie 4 SMV46KX01E Fully Integrated 13 Place Dishwasher

    MRP ₹84,490

For modular kitchens with a 60 cm slot: a fully integrated machine hidden behind a cabinet door that measured about 47 dB and cleaned dal-stained steel and oily plates well on Auto. It has no kadhai programme, needs a joiner to fit and costs far more than freestanding rivals.

    • Used about 9.5 L per Eco cycle
    • Measured about 47 dB, quieter than most freestanding models here
    • No Indian kadhai programme and no confirmed app support
  6. Faber FFSD 6PR 8S Ace Black countertop dishwasher, front view of the black door and control panel

    MRP ₹29,990

For couples in flats with no space for a 60 cm unit: an 8-place countertop machine with the lowest water use and running cost in our tests. Its racks cannot take a pressure cooker and a large kadhai together, and drying is weak.

    • Only 8 L of water per cycle as listed on Flipkart
    • Fits on a counter with a 55 x 60 x 50 cm footprint
    • Large pots and a 12-inch kadhai do not fit

Buying advice

Most Indian families of three to five should buy a 12 to 14-place freestanding dishwasher with a built-in water softener, a strong Intensive programme for kadhai and cooker lids, and a brand whose technician can reach your pin code. Pay extra for steam, Wi-Fi or a built-in design only if quiet running or a hidden look matters to you. A countertop 8-place machine makes sense only for one or two people.

Can a dishwasher clean kadhai and tawa?

A kadhai, yes. The better machines cleaned an oily kadhai in one Intensive cycle when it was loaded at an angle on the lower rack. Scrape off leftover food first; there is no need to rinse.

A seasoned iron tawa is a different matter. None of the machines we tried it in got the greasy film off in one cycle, and a dishwasher’s hot detergent also strips the seasoning you have built up. Keep iron tawas and kadhais for hand-washing and let the machine do steel, glass, plates and katoris. Dal dried on a pressure-cooker lid separates good machines from average ones, which is why we test it on every dishwasher.

Does it work with hard water?

Yes, with dishwasher salt. Much of India’s tap and borewell water is hard enough to leave white film on glasses and spots on steel tumblers. A dishwasher with a built-in softener uses salt to remove the hardness before washing; set the softener to match your water and top up the salt when the indicator lights. Add rinse aid as well, since it helps water sheet off steel.

Use only dishwasher salt in the softener, never table salt or detergent. If a machine has no softener, which is common on countertop models, rinse aid alone will reduce but not stop spotting on very hard water.

Will haldi stains come out of plastic dabbas?

No. Every dishwasher we tested left a yellow tint on plastic dabbas that had held haldi curries, even after three cycles. Plastic also dries poorly in most dishwashers because it does not hold heat, so lids often come out damp. If you want the machine to handle tiffins and storage boxes, switch to steel or glass containers, or use an Extra Dry option where one is available.

How many place settings do you need?

  • 8 place settings suits one or two people running one load a day.
  • 12 place settings suits a family of three to five.
  • 13 to 14 place settings suits large families who want a whole dinner of thalis, katoris and tumblers in one evening load.

Bigger is not always better: if you rarely fill the machine, you run it half-empty or wait a day, and some machines waste water on half loads.

Freestanding, built-in or countertop?

A freestanding 60 cm dishwasher is the right choice for most homes: it needs a floor space near the sink, a water inlet, a drain and a socket. A fully built-in model sits behind a cabinet door and is quieter in practice, but it needs a slot planned into a modular kitchen and a carpenter to fit the panel, and costs more for the same cleaning. A countertop model needs no floor space but still needs a water connection and a drain, and its racks will not take large Indian cookware.

What do you need before installation?

Plan for a water inlet, a drain point within about a metre and a 16 A socket. Ask whether installation is included. The heater draws a lot of power while warming water, so a home inverter is not a practical backup; run the machine on mains power, ideally in the evening.

Is service more important than features?

For most buyers, yes. A dishwasher has pumps, valves and a softener that eventually need a technician, and several brands have far fewer dishwasher technicians than their names suggest. Before you buy, check that the brand has a technician in your pin code and that spare parts are stocked locally. A slightly less capable machine with a technician nearby is the safer purchase outside the big cities.

Questions buyers ask

Can a dishwasher clean kadhai and burnt dal?

Yes, the better ones can. The Bosch SMS6ITI00I, LG DFB424FP and Voltas Beko DF14S2 cleaned dal dried on a pressure-cooker lid for six hours in one Intensive cycle, while the IFB Neptune VX needed a second run and the Faber FFSD 6PR 12S Neo needed a scrub. None of the dishwashers we tried on a seasoned iron tawa cleaned it fully in one cycle.

Does a dishwasher work with hard water in India?

Yes, if you use dishwasher salt and rinse aid. The Bosch SMS6ITI00I, with its softener at the top setting, left steel tumblers nearly spot-free on 450 ppm water. In our tests every machine left spots or a white film on steel and glass until salt and rinse aid were added.

Which dishwasher is the quietest?

The LG DFB424FP was the quietest dishwasher we tested at about 46 dB on Auto at one metre, followed by the built-in Bosch SMV46KX01E at about 47 dB. The Voltas Beko DF14S2 was the loudest at about 53 dB.

How much does a dishwasher cost to run each month?

At one cycle a day and power at ₹8 per unit, our estimates ranged from about ₹520 a month for the countertop Faber FFSD 6PR 8S Ace to about ₹750 for the LG DFB424FP, including a tablet, rinse aid and salt. The IFB Neptune VX came to about ₹650.

Can a dishwasher run on an inverter during a power cut?

Usually not. The heater in a dishwasher such as the Bosch SMS6ITI00I draws about 2 kW, so a small home inverter will trip; use a 2 kVA or larger unit or wait for mains power. Most machines we tested, including the IFB Neptune VX and Voltas Beko DF14S2, paused during a cut and carried on when power returned.
