Bosch SMS6ITI00I 13-Place Dishwasher Review: Best for Kadhai
Our verdict
The Bosch SMS6ITI00I is a 13-place dishwasher that cleaned burnt dal, oily kadhai and haldi-stained containers best in our group, but it costs far more than the 12-place rivals.
Buy it if
- Families of four to six who cook oily, masala-heavy food daily
- Homes with hard water that want a built-in softener and a real service network
- Buyers who want app control and a rust-through guarantee
Skip it if
- You want a dishwasher under ₹30,000
- You have no space for a 60 cm wide unit and a drain point
What we like
- IntensivePlus cycle removed pressure-cooker dal that had dried for six hours
- Water softener with a 7-step hardness setting handled 450 ppm tap water
- Extra Dry option left steel tumblers nearly spot-free
- Home Connect app lets you start or delay a cycle remotely
- Half-load option and a height-adjustable upper basket
What we don’t
- Auto cycle takes about 2 hours 10 minutes
- Plastic dabbas still dry poorly without the Extra Dry option
- Priced well above Voltas Beko, IFB and Faber

The Bosch SMS6ITI00I suits families who cook with oil, haldi and pressure cookers every day and want the dishes to come out clean without pre-rinsing. The trade-off is price: it is the most expensive freestanding model here other than the LG, and its best cycles run for more than two hours.
Can a dishwasher really clean a kadhai and burnt dal?
Mostly yes. We left dal to dry on a pressure-cooker lid and a steel pot for six hours. On IntensivePlus both came out clean in 2 hours 25 minutes, with a thin film only in the pot’s weld seam. An oily kadhai was clean after one cycle if loaded at an angle on the lower rack; a heavily seasoned iron tawa kept a dull ring, and we would hand-wash that. Normal Express (55 minutes) is fine for tea cups and plates but left egg residue on a fork.
Does it remove haldi stains from plastic?
Not fully. After three cycles a plastic dabba with curry still held a pale yellow tint, which is true of every dishwasher in this group. Steel and glass came out spotless. Run plastic on the top rack with Extra Dry switched on, or the lids stay damp.
How does it handle hard water and steel tumblers?
Our supply was around 450 ppm TDS. With the built-in softener set to its top level and salt in the reservoir, steel tumblers had only a handful of water spots, and glasses stayed clear. Before we added salt the first load showed a white film. Refill rinse aid as soon as the indicator lights up.
How much water, power and money does it use?
We measured about 11 L per cycle, matching Bosch’s listing, and roughly 1.1 kWh on Auto. Counting a tablet, a share of salt and rinse aid, and power at ₹8 per unit, one cycle a day works out near ₹700 a month. That is less than most households pay a maid for plates alone, but not by a wide margin.
Is it loud, and can it run during a power cut?
At one metre we measured about 51 dB on Auto, a quiet hum that is audible in an open-plan flat but not from the bedroom. If power fails mid-cycle the unit resumed when supply returned; we did not test it on an inverter, and a 1 kVA inverter is risky because the heater draws about 2 kW.
What are service and installation like?
Bosch has one of the wider service networks in the category, and technicians in metros arrive within two to three days on average according to owner posts. You need a water inlet, a drain within a metre and a 16 A socket. Fitting is usually done by the dealer.
Is the Bosch worth the extra money over cheaper models?
For a household that cooks oily food daily, yes. The gap showed up on the hardest soils, burnt dal and baked-on grease, where cheaper machines needed a second run. For plates and katoris, the IFB and Voltas Beko get close. Count the saving in hand-washing time and maid dependence, then compare it against the difference in price over five years.
Who should buy something else?
If you cook lightly or want the lowest price, the IFB or Voltas Beko deliver most of this performance for less. If you want steam and a quieter motor, look at the LG.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We ran the unit daily for six weeks in a home kitchen with a hard-water supply near 450 ppm TDS and a two-person plus visitors load. Each soil test was repeated three times on IntensivePlus and Auto. Cycle times were stopwatch readings, water and power came from a flow meter and a plug-in energy meter, and sound was measured at one metre.
We bought this unit at retail price.

Questions buyers ask
Does the Bosch SMS6ITI00I clean kadhai and pressure-cooker dal?
Yes. On its IntensivePlus cycle the Bosch SMS6ITI00I removed dal dried onto a pressure-cooker lid for six hours and left only a faint film on a heavily oiled kadhai, which needed a quick wipe.
How long does the Bosch SMS6ITI00I take to wash?
In our tests IntensivePlus took about 2 hours 25 minutes, Auto about 2 hours 10 minutes and Normal Express about 55 minutes. Expect longer on Economy.
Do I need salt in the Bosch SMS6ITI00I for hard water?
Yes, if your tap water is above roughly 150 ppm. We used dishwasher salt at the highest hardness setting with 450 ppm water and saw no white film after six weeks.
What does the Bosch SMS6ITI00I cost to run each month?
Using one cycle a day, we estimate about ₹700 a month for tablets, salt, rinse aid and about 1.1 kWh per cycle at ₹8 per unit.
