Voltas Beko DF14S2 14-Place Dishwasher Review: Big for the Price
Our verdict
The Voltas Beko DF14S2 is a 14-place dishwasher that cleans everyday Indian loads well at about 9.5 L a cycle and has a 10-year motor warranty, but it is louder than the LG and dries plastic poorly.
Buy it if

- You want app control or steam
What we like
- 14 place settings fit a full family dinner in one load
- Used about 9.5 L per cycle in our measurement
- 2 years comprehensive and 10 years on the motor as per Voltas Beko
- Eight programmes including a hot intensive wash
- Street prices have fallen well below MRP
What we don’t
- Louder than the LG and IFB at about 53 dB
- Plastic dabbas stayed damp
- Service reach is thinner than IFB's in smaller towns

The Voltas Beko DF14S2 is for large households that want maximum capacity for the money. It cleans everyday loads well, but the machine is noisy and its drying is only average.
How well does it clean dal, kadhai and tawa?
Dal dried on a pressure-cooker lid for six hours came out clean after 2 hours 10 minutes on Intensive, with a faint film at the edge of the lid. An oily kadhai was clean after one cycle if placed on the lower rack; a tawa kept a grey film and needed a second pass. Auto took 1 hour 50 minutes and was fine for thalis and katoris.
Does it remove haldi from plastic and spots from steel?
Plastic dabbas kept a pale yellow tint after three cycles, as with the other machines. Steel tumblers showed a few spots at 330 ppm hardness until we used salt and rinse aid. Drying left steel dry and plastic damp, so wipe lids before storing.
Is the 14-place capacity useful?
Yes. A dinner for six, with thalis, katoris, a tava, spoons and tumblers, fitted in one load with the top rack adjusted. Half-loads waste water here, so run it once the family has finished eating.
Is it noisy?
We measured about 53 dB at one metre on Auto, with a noticeable pump surge during drain. It is the loudest of the freestanding machines we tested, and you will hear it from a living room.
What does it cost to run?
We measured about 9.5 L and 1.0 kWh per Auto cycle. Including a tablet, salt, rinse aid and power at ₹8 per unit, one cycle a day costs about ₹680 a month.
What about hard water and power cuts?
Hard water needs salt; without it we saw a white film on glasses within a week. After a short power cut the cycle resumed. An inverter under 2 kVA will struggle with the heater.
Is the service network good enough?
Voltas has a broad network for air conditioners, and Beko service is routed through it, but dishwasher technicians are fewer. Owners on retailer pages report mixed wait times in smaller towns. Confirm that a technician is available in your pin code before buying.
Is it a good deal at street prices?
When it sells well below MRP, it is the best value for large families in this group. The capacity is real, the water use is low and the motor warranty is long. The compromises are noise and weak drying, which matter less if the kitchen is closed off from the living area.
Should I buy salt and rinse aid in bulk?
Buy a 1.5 to 2 kg pack of dishwasher salt and a litre of rinse aid at a time; both last two to three months at one cycle a day. Use only dishwasher salt in the softener, never table salt or detergent, and check the indicator weekly.
Who should buy something else?
The LG suits you if noise matters. The IFB suits you if service reach matters more than capacity.

How we tested
We used the DF14S2 for four weeks with a family of five and tap water of about 330 ppm. Burnt dal, haldi-stained plastic, a kadhai, a tawa and steel tumblers were washed three times each on Auto and Intensive. Cycle times, litres and sound were measured with a stopwatch, flow meter and sound meter at one metre.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. Voltas Beko lent this unit for 6 weeks and took it back afterwards. It did not review the text before publication and has no say in the score.
