Faber FFSD 6PR 8S Ace Countertop Dishwasher Review: Compact
Our verdict
The Faber FFSD 6PR 8S Ace is an 8-place countertop dishwasher that uses about 8 L per cycle and suits one or two people, but its small racks cannot take a pressure cooker and a kadhai together.

The Faber FFSD 6PR 8S Ace suits couples and small families in flats without space for a full-size dishwasher. The trade-off is capacity: eight place settings and racks that cannot take large Indian cookware.
What fits inside an 8-place dishwasher?
For two people, a day’s thalis, katoris, spoons, tumblers and a small kadhai fit. A pressure cooker lid and a 12-inch kadhai together do not. We loaded the kadhai on its side in the lower rack with the top rack removed, which is the only way. Plan on one load a day for two people, or two for four.
Does it remove burnt dal and oily kadhai?
Partly. Dal dried onto steel katoris for six hours came clean on Intensive in 1 hour 50 minutes. An oily small kadhai came out clean after one Intensive run, but a heavily seasoned tawa kept a film. Normal (1 hour 20 minutes) handles everyday plates; the 90-minute and Rapid cycles are only for lightly soiled loads.
How do haldi stains and steel tumblers fare?
Plastic dabbas kept a pale yellow tint, as in every machine here. Steel tumblers had water spots at 250 ppm hardness; there is no built-in softener listed, so use rinse aid and wipe spotted items. Drying was weak, and lids stayed wet unless the door was opened.
How much water and power does it use?
We measured about 8.5 L and 0.8 kWh on Normal. With a tablet, rinse aid and power at ₹8 per unit, one cycle a day costs about ₹520 a month. That is the lowest in this group.
How loud is it?
About 51 dB at one metre in our room, close to the 49 dB listed. On a counter it vibrates the surface, so put a rubber mat underneath.
Do I need special plumbing?
Yes. Countertop units still need a water inlet and a drain hose. Most people connect them to the kitchen tap with an adapter and drain into the sink. Check that the tap threading matches, and ask the dealer whether installation is included.
What about service?
Faber’s dishwasher service is thin. Warranty terms are 2 years on the product and 5 on rust-through, with technician visits. Owner ratings on Flipkart are good, but check technician availability for your pin code before buying.
Is a countertop dishwasher worth it for two people?
For two people who eat at home, it saves roughly 30 to 40 minutes of washing a day and a lot of tap water. The compromise is that large cookware still goes to the sink. Many owners keep the kadhai and tawa for hand-washing and run everything else in the machine, which suits Indian kitchens well.
Should I buy salt and rinse aid in bulk?
Buy a 1.5 to 2 kg pack of dishwasher salt and a litre of rinse aid at a time; both last two to three months at one cycle a day. Use only dishwasher salt in the softener, never table salt or detergent, and check the indicator weekly.
Who should buy something else?
If you cook for four or more, buy a 60 cm unit such as the IFB. If you want better drying, look at models with extra-dry options.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We used the Ace for three weeks in a two-person kitchen with tap water near 250 ppm. Dal-coated steel katoris, a small kadhai, haldi-stained plastic and steel tumblers were run three times each on Intensive and Normal. Cycle times, litres and sound were measured with a stopwatch, flow meter and sound meter at one metre.
We bought this unit at retail price.

-
Faber FFSD 6PR 12S Neo 12 Place Settings Dishwasher D 5.8
The Neo holds four more place settings but used more water and cleaned no better. For one or two people the Ace is the more sensible Faber.
-
IFB Neptune VX 12 Place Settings Free-Standing Dishwasher B 7.6
The IFB holds far more and cleans burnt cookware better, but needs a full 60 cm slot. The Ace is the one for a flat with a bare counter.
