Best Air Purifiers in India 2026
Quick answer
The Boon Airvana is the best air purifier we tested for Indian winters: it cleared a smoggy bedroom fastest and reads eight air-quality parameters. The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 is the main alternative, nearly as fast with a good app and sold at large retailers, though louder at top speed.

Premium pick
Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 (TP11)
For buyers who put build quality, design and brand service first: sealed HEPA and carbon filter, 350 degree oscillation, a two-year warranty and voice-assistant support. It costs far more than faster purifiers, and Dyson publishes airflow rather than CADR.

- 350 degree oscillation spreads clean air across a room
- Price is roughly double the faster rivals
-
Best service network
Philips Series 2000i Air Purifier AC2958/63

- Wide Philips service and spares network
- 330 m3/h CADR (retail listing)
- Priced above the faster Xiaomi
-
Quietest for small rooms
Levoit Core 300S Smart Air Purifier
For small bedrooms and home offices: the quietest purifier we tested on both low and top speed, with VeSync app, Alexa and a two-year warranty. Its modest CADR makes it slow above about 200 sq ft, and service points are limited outside metros.
- Very quiet on low
- VeSync app and Alexa compatibility
- Lower CADR than most here, around 240 m3/h in reviews
-
Best budget
Eureka Forbes Dr Aeroguard 150 Air Purifier
For a kids' room or study under 150 sq ft on a tight budget: H13 HEPA at a very low price, low power use and Eureka Forbes service reach. It is slow in a standard bedroom and has no app or air-quality numbers.
- Very low price for H13 HEPA
- Eureka Forbes service reach
- Slow in anything above a small room
Buying advice
For most Indian homes, the best air purifier is one with enough airflow for your room, a true HEPA filter, a quiet night setting and filters you can actually buy in your city. If you live in Delhi-NCR or anywhere the winter AQI crosses 300, buy for clean-up speed first: a purifier with plenty of airflow for your room keeps up on the worst nights, while an undersized one runs flat out and still loses.
How big a room can an air purifier clean?
Start with CADR (clean air delivery rate), usually given in m3/h. It tells you how much filtered air the purifier pushes out each hour. Divide the CADR by your room’s volume to get air changes per hour; for heavy smog you want four or more. The coverage figure on the box usually assumes far fewer air changes, so treat it as a ceiling and plan on roughly half that floor area in a north Indian winter.
Measure your room before you shop: length times breadth for floor area, and note the ceiling height, because a 10 ft ceiling holds more air than a 9 ft one. Our tests use a 180 sq ft bedroom, so a result there is a useful guide for a typical bedroom, not for an open hall.
Do you need a bigger purifier for a living room?
Usually, yes. A living room above about 250 sq ft with doors to the kitchen and balcony needs much more airflow than a closed bedroom, and none of the compact purifiers here is built for that during peak smog. Either buy the highest-CADR model you can afford for the hall, or run a purifier in the bedroom where you sleep and keep that door shut. One good bedroom purifier does more for your health than one weak unit trying to clean the whole flat.
What does HEPA H13 mean, and does the grade matter?
HEPA is a filter standard for fine particles. H13 is a stricter grade than the “True HEPA” or plain “HEPA” labels some brands use, which do not always state a grade. For PM2.5, the grade matters less than whether air is forced through the filter without leaking around it, and whether the purifier has enough airflow. An activated carbon layer helps with cooking smells and vehicle exhaust, which HEPA alone does not catch.
How much do replacement filters cost per year?
Filters are the real running cost of an air purifier, and most brands in India do not publish replacement prices clearly. Before you buy, search for the exact filter model, check that it is in stock at a seller you trust, and note its price. In a polluted city, plan on changing the filter more often than the brand’s claimed life, which is usually measured in cleaner air. A cheap purifier with an expensive or hard-to-find filter can cost more over three years than a pricier one.
Do you need a purifier with a PM2.5 display?
It helps. A numeric PM2.5 reading tells you whether the air is at 80 or 300, which a coloured light cannot. In our tests the colour lights on simpler purifiers turned red somewhere between about 70 and 80 ug/m3, so a red light could mean 80 or 300 and could not show whether the purifier was winning. If you buy a model with only a light, a cheap handheld PM2.5 monitor is worth adding. Gas sensors for VOC or NO2 are a bonus for kitchens and road-facing rooms, but they report an index, not a medical measurement.
How loud is an air purifier at night?
Check the noise on the lowest or Sleep setting, since that is what you will hear at 2 am, and compare it at the same distance across models. Top-speed noise matters less if Auto mode only ramps up when you cook or open a door. Many purifiers dim their display at night; if yours does not, look for a display-off button.
Will an air purifier run on an inverter during a power cut?
Most will. Modern purifiers draw tens of watts, far less than a fan heater or an AC, so a home inverter can keep one running through an evening power cut. Check the wattage on the listing: an older design with a high draw takes a bigger share of the inverter’s capacity and costs more to run every night of the winter.
Is an app or smart-home support worth paying for?
It is useful if you want to start the purifier before you reach home, set schedules or see air quality history. It is not essential: a purifier with good airflow, a timer and a reliable Auto mode will do the main job. If you do want an app, check that the purifier still works fully from its own buttons, and that it pairs with your home Wi-Fi band.
Is after-sales service a deciding factor?
In smaller cities it can be. A purifier runs for years and its filters and fan need support. Brands with service points in your city, spares at local dealers and a longer warranty are easier to live with than imported or send-in-only brands, even if their purifiers are a little slower. Keep the invoice and the box until the warranty runs out.
Questions buyers ask
What is the best air purifier in India for Delhi winter pollution?
The Boon Airvana was the best air purifier we tested for Delhi winters. In a closed 180 sq ft bedroom it brought PM2.5 from about 300 to under 35 ug/m3 in 16 minutes, the fastest of the group, and its sensor reads eight air-quality parameters.
Is the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 better than the Philips AC2958/63?
On speed, yes. The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 took 18 minutes to clear our test bedroom against 21 for the Philips AC2958/63. The Philips is quieter at top speed and has a wider service network, which matters outside the metros.
Which air purifier is quietest for sleeping?
The Levoit Core 300S was the quietest in our tests, at about 27 dB on its lowest speed and 51 dB at top speed, measured at 1 metre. It suits small bedrooms; above about 200 sq ft it is too slow during peak smog.
Is an expensive air purifier like the Dyson worth it?
Only if design, build and service matter more to you than speed. The Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 took 23 minutes to clear our test bedroom, slower than the Boon Airvana and Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4, which cost far less.
Should I trust the room size printed on an air purifier box?
Use the printed room size as an upper limit, not a target. Brands usually size rooms for clean-air conditions; during a north Indian winter with AQI above 300, plan on roughly half the listed area to get quick clean-up.
