Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 (TP11) Review: Well Built but Costly
Our verdict
The Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 (TP11) is a well-built, easy-to-live-with bladeless tower purifier with app control, but it costs far more than faster purifiers for the same room.

The Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 is for people who want a purifier that looks like furniture, spreads air around the room and comes from a brand with its own service network. The main trade-off is value: it cleaned our test room more slowly than purifiers at less than half the price, and Dyson does not publish a standard CADR figure to compare.
How well does it clean a bedroom during stubble-burning season?
In a closed 180 sq ft bedroom it took 23 minutes to bring PM2.5 from about 300 to under 35 ug/m3. The Boon Airvana needed 16 and the Xiaomi 18. After that, it held the room under 20 ug/m3 overnight with a door that was shut but not sealed. Dyson rates it for a room of up to 81 m3, which is about 290 sq ft at a 9 ft ceiling, but we would not push it that far during a 400 AQI week.
How loud is it at night?
Not as quiet as you might expect for the price. On the lowest night setting it measured about 38 dB at 1 metre, at the loud end of this group at night, though it is a low hum that a ceiling fan covers. Top speed is about 61 dB, in line with the figure reported for the model, and that is clearly audible. Because it has no exposed blades, the sound is wind rather than a motor whine. The 350 degree oscillation spreads air around the room, which helped in a bedroom where the bed sits in a corner.
Is the app worth using?
The MyDyson app shows PM2.5, PM10, VOC and NO2 readings and filter status, and it works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. Against our reference monitor the PM2.5 readout stayed within about 15 percent, though it lagged the monitor by a minute or two when levels spiked. The VOC and NO2 numbers are an index, not a measurement in ppm. Setup took about five minutes.
What are the filters and running costs like?
The filter combines sealed HEPA and activated carbon, so air does not leak around it. Dyson claims it captures 99.95 percent of particles down to 0.1 micron. We did not find an official replacement price in India at review time, so we cannot give a yearly cost. Expect to replace it once a year in heavy-pollution cities. Power draw measured about 30 W on a mid speed, which a small inverter handles.
Is the Dyson PC1 worth the price?
Only if build, design and service count more than speed. A Xiaomi or Boon costs less than half and cleans the room faster. Dyson’s advantage is a long warranty, demo stores in major cities and a product that tends to feel finished.
Who should skip it?
Large living rooms, anyone sizing on CADR alone, and anyone who wants the lowest running cost. Pick a faster unit and spend the difference on filters.

How we tested
Dyson lent us a PC1 for five weeks in a 180 sq ft bedroom with outdoor AQI between 260 and 450. We timed PM2.5 clean-up from about 300 to under 35 ug/m3 after burning incense, measured noise at 1 m on night mode and top speed, logged wall power, and compared the app reading against a handheld reference monitor.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. Dyson India loaned the review unit for five weeks and took it back afterwards. Dyson had no say in this review or its score.

-
Boon Airvana Smart Air Purifier A 9.1
The Boon Airvana cleared our 180 sq ft bedroom in 16 minutes against the Dyson's 23, was quieter on its night setting, and costs about half as much. The Dyson has a two-year warranty and wider service.

Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 (AC-M16-SC) B 7.7
The Xiaomi costs less than half as much and cleared our bedroom faster, in 18 minutes against 23. The Dyson is better built, oscillates and has wider service; top-speed noise is similar (61 vs 62 dB).

Questions buyers ask
Is the Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 good for Delhi pollution?
Yes, for bedrooms. The Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 brought PM2.5 from about 300 to under 35 ug/m3 in 23 minutes in a 180 sq ft room. It is slower than cheaper purifiers with a higher CADR, so it suits rooms under about 250 sq ft in peak smog.
Does the Dyson PC1 publish a CADR?
No. Dyson quotes airflow of 290 litres per second and coverage of a room up to 81 m3 under its own test, not a CADR in m3/h. That makes it harder to compare directly with Boon, Xiaomi or Coway.
How long is the Dyson Purifier Cool PC1 warranty?
Dyson India lists a two-year warranty on the PC1. It sells through its own website and demo stores, and is also stocked by large retailers; check the warranty card for terms.
