Hisense 55E7Q Pro 55-inch QLED TV Review: Fast but Risky

Hisense E7Q Pro 55-inch QLED TV from the front on two legs, showing a Hisense promotional screen

Our verdict

The Hisense 55E7Q Pro is a 144 Hz QLED with Dolby Vision and Atmos for a low price, but owner reports of panel patches and slow service, plus the app-limited VIDAA U, hold it back.

Buy it if

  • Gamers who want a high refresh rate on a budget
  • Buyers who mainly use YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video

Skip it if

  • You depend on a wide app catalogue or want Google TV
  • You live where Hisense service is slow or absent

What we like

  • 144 Hz panel with Dolby Vision at a low price
  • Dolby Atmos support and 24 W speakers
  • Input lag of about 12 ms in game mode
  • Measured peak brightness near 420 nits

What we don’t

  • Many owners report black patches or dots within a year
  • Service is slow and often outsourced
  • VIDAA U has fewer apps than Google TV
  • Only one-year warranty

The Hisense 55E7Q Pro is for buyers who want high refresh rate and Dolby Vision for the least money, mostly gamers and sports watchers. The trade-off is risk: Indian owner reports of panel defects and slow service are more frequent than for Samsung, LG or Sony.

Is 144 Hz useful on this TV?

For PC and some console games, yes. Motion looked clean in racing titles, and input lag in game mode was about 12 ms, among the lowest we have measured. For IPL on JioHotstar the benefit is smaller, since broadcasts are 50 Hz or 60 Hz, but pans across the outfield looked steady with motion smoothing set to low.

How is the picture quality?

Good for the money. QLED gives vivid colour, and we measured peak brightness near 420 nits, which makes Dolby Vision clips look lively and keeps the screen usable in a bright room. Black levels are typical of a direct-lit panel without strong local dimming, so dark scenes look grey in a dark room.

Is VIDAA U a problem?

It is quick: cold boot took about 15 seconds and YouTube opened in around 5. The issue is breadth. Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and JioHotstar worked, but some smaller regional apps may be missing. If your family relies on a specific Indian app, check before buying. Ads on the home screen are present but light.

Do owners report problems?

Yes, and it is the key concern. A large share of recent verified owner reviews mention black patches, dots or lines appearing within a year, along with slow, outsourced service. We cannot say how many units are affected, but the pattern is consistent across retailers. Test the screen with a full-white and a full-black image on delivery and complain within the return window.

How does it sound?

The 24 W speakers with Dolby Atmos reached about 79 dB at 80 percent volume. Dialogue is clear, but bass is limited. For films, use a soundbar.

Will it work with DTH and power cuts?

A Tata Play or Airtel set-top box via HDMI looked fine. Power draw averaged about 110 W in typical use. Voltage swings are common in older buildings, so use a stabiliser or surge protector, and ensure the wall mount can carry the weight. Ask whether the seller arranges installation, as Hisense technician visits can take a week.

Who should buy something else?

If service matters more than specs, the Samsung or Sony offers a safer ownership experience. If you want the same brand with a better panel, the Hisense E8S is a step up.

Is it a good buy for a large family?

On specifications, yes: a 55-inch screen with bright QLED colour suits a hall where five or six people sit together, and the wide viewing area is acceptable from a sofa at about three metres. The doubt is long-term reliability. If you buy it, buy from a retailer with an easy return window, test the panel on day one, and register the warranty immediately. Keep the invoice and the box until the first monsoon has passed, as moisture and voltage spikes are common causes of electronics failures.

Yes on paper. The Hisense 55E7Q Pro has a 144 Hz panel and showed about 12 ms input lag in game mode, which suits PC and console players who want smooth motion.

Does the Hisense 55E7Q Pro run Hotstar and Netflix?
