The Havells Adonia Spin 15L is a good-looking, quick 5-star storage geyser for a family of three or four. Its weak spot is hard water: after six weeks the element carried more scale than the AO Smith, so yearly servicing matters here.
How quickly does it heat a full tank?
From 15 °C to 60 °C took 30 minutes with the 15 L tank full, and a full tank gave about 23 litres of water at a 40 °C mix. That is enough for two bucket baths and the kitchen. On a January morning with 9 °C inlet water we needed 38 minutes, so switch on earlier than in summer.
Does it keep water hot overnight?
Yes. With the thermostat at 60 °C and a bathroom at 19 °C, the tank lost about 7 °C in eight hours. That is in line with its 5-star claim. A short boost in the morning brings it back to bath temperature without a full cycle.
Will it work well on hard water?
This is the cautious part. On 480 ppm TDS water the element showed a moderate coating after six weeks, noticeably more than on the AO Smith run on harder water. Descale yearly, ask the technician to check the anode, and fit a sediment filter if your supply carries sand. Owner reviews for Havells geysers often mention scale and leaks at the fittings; do not skip the sealing tape on the nipples.
Is it safe in a high-rise flat?
The unit has a thermostat and a thermal cut-out. Retailer pages describe a multi-function valve for pressure, but we could not find a firm pressure rating for this exact model. On a booster-pump line, ask your dealer for the bar rating printed on the box before you buy, and fit a pressure-reducing valve if the pump is strong.
What will it cost to run?
We metered about 2.2 kWh a day for four people in winter, which is close to ₹530 a month at ₹8 per unit. Standing loss makes up roughly a fifth of that, so switch the geyser off at the wall when the family travels.
What are installation and service like?
Installation is a technician visit, and you should expect separate charges for pipes, an angle valve and drilling. The Havells service network is broad across north and central India, and spares are generally easy to find. Complaints are mainly about wait times in peak winter and sellers charging for items listed as “free installation”.
What should I check before buying?
Two things. First, read the box for the rated pressure and warranty terms, since listings disagree. Second, compare street price with the printed MRP, because discounts on this model are steep and swing between sellers. Keep the invoice, and photograph the serial number before the plumber fixes it to the wall.
Who should buy something else?
Pick the AO Smith if your water is hard and you want the lowest scale risk, or the Haier Wi-Fi model if you want scheduling from a phone.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
The unit was installed on a tiled wall of a flat on the fourth floor and tested on the building's overhead-tank supply. We timed 15 °C to 60 °C heat-up, drew hot water to a 40 °C mix, measured eight-hour heat loss and metered a typical week for four people.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. Loaned for six weeks by the brand's retail partner and returned after testing. No payment or editorial input.
How does the Havells Adonia Spin 15 L Storage Water Heater compare?
-
AO Smith HSE-SHS-015 15 L Vertical Storage Water Heater A− 8.5
The AO Smith held less scale and lost less heat overnight. The Havells looks more modern and was on sale for much less than its printed MRP.
-
Crompton Amica Pro 15 L 5 Star Storage Water Heater B 7.6
The Crompton is cheaper and similar in heat-up time, but the Havells has a clearer indicator and a larger service footprint.
-
