Haier ES15V-SD Wi-Fi 15L Smart Geyser Review: App Control Tested
Our verdict
The Haier ES15V-SD Wi-Fi is a 15 litre, 2 kW, 5-star smart geyser with app scheduling and usage learning that cuts wasted heating, but it costs well above plain 5-star tanks and its app is fiddly.
Buy it if
- Households with fixed bath times who want scheduling from a phone
- Buyers who like to watch electricity use and avoid leaving the geyser on
- Tech-comfortable families in metros with Haier service
Skip it if
- You only need a plain geyser and want to save money
- Your home Wi-Fi is weak near the bathroom
- Elderly users in the house prefer a simple knob
What we like
- Phone scheduling and smart memory reduced unnecessary heating
- Incoloy 800SS element, as listed on Croma
- 5-star BEE rating with 6 °C overnight loss
- LED display shows the water temperature clearly
What we don’t
- Priced far above equivalent non-smart 15 L models
- Pairing took three attempts and needed a 2.4 GHz network
- Service coverage is thinner than AO Smith or Havells in smaller towns

The Haier ES15V-SD Wi-Fi is for households that will actually use scheduling. If you run the same bath routine each morning, the app avoids heating the tank at the wrong time. The trade-off is price and complexity: a plain 5-star tank heats just as fast for much less.
Does the app and scheduling work?
Pairing took three attempts and only worked on a 2.4 GHz network, which many dual-band routers hide. Once connected, schedules fired on time for six weeks without a miss. The smart memory feature observes when hot water is drawn and starts heating shortly before, which in our home cut weekly energy use by roughly 18 per cent compared with leaving the thermostat on. The app does not warn you if Wi-Fi drops, so keep a manual switch handy.
How fast does it heat?
A full 15 L tank rose from 15 °C to 60 °C in 32 minutes, and gave around 23 litres at a 40 °C mix. That is level with the AO Smith, so the smart features are the reason to buy, not extra speed. In a 9 °C January morning, the first cycle ran close to 38 minutes.
How much heat does it lose overnight?
With the tank at 60 °C and a 19 °C bathroom, the geyser fell 6 °C in eight hours. That matches its 5-star claim and means a scheduled boost is short. The PUF insulation is evidently doing its job.
Does hard water damage the element?
We tested on 450 ppm TDS water. The Incoloy 800SS element, as the Croma listing describes it, showed only a light film after six weeks. Incoloy resists corrosion better than plain copper elements, but scale still forms; descale annually and check the anode. Owner reviews for smart geysers more often mention app glitches than element failures.
Is it safe?
The Haier lists overheat protection and over-pressure protection, and the unit has an antibacterial system called IBPS. We could not confirm a pressure rating for this exact model from official sources, so ask the dealer for the bar rating on the box if you are on a booster pump. Check earthing, because Wi-Fi modules make a clean earth more important.
What does it cost to run, and what about service?
For four people we measured about 1.8 kWh a day with scheduling on, roughly ₹430 a month at ₹8 per unit. Haier’s service is solid in metros but patchier in smaller towns, so check the nearest authorised centre. Owners most often complain about app pairing and the higher repair price for the Wi-Fi module.
Is a smart geyser worth the extra money?
Only if you will use the schedule. Over a year, the energy saving is roughly one or two thousand rupees at our test tariff, which does not repay the price gap on its own. The value is in convenience and in not forgetting to switch off, so households with irregular routines get the least out of it.
Who should buy something else?
Buy the AO Smith for durability on hard water, or the V-Guard Calino if a display and remote are all you need.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
The geyser ran on a 2.4 GHz home network in a fifth-floor bathroom. We tested app pairing, schedule reliability and usage learning alongside the heat-up, 40 °C mix volume, eight-hour heat loss and weekly energy use measured on every 15 L model.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. Loaned for six weeks by the brand and returned after testing. No payment, no review copy approval.
How does the Haier ES15V-SD Wi-Fi 15 L 5 Star Smart Storage Water Heater compare?
-
AO Smith HSE-SHS-015 15 L Vertical Storage Water Heater A− 8.5
The AO Smith lasts longer on hard water and has better service reach. The Haier wins on scheduling and display, but you pay for them.
-
V-Guard Calino DG 15 L Digital Storage Water Heater B− 7.0
The V-Guard has a display and remote for less money, but lacks the Haier's app scheduling and usage learning.

Questions buyers ask
Does the Haier ES15V-SD have app control?
Yes. The Haier ES15V-SD Wi-Fi supports phone control through the Haier app for on and off, temperature and schedules. It needs a 2.4 GHz home network.
Does the Haier ES15V-SD save electricity?
It can. The Haier ES15V-SD's scheduling and smart memory reduced our weekly use from 2.2 to about 1.8 kWh a day for four people, around ₹430 a month at ₹8 per unit.
How long does the Haier ES15V-SD take to heat a full tank?
The Haier ES15V-SD took about 32 minutes to heat 15 L from 15 °C to 60 °C. In January, expect closer to 38 minutes.
Is the Haier ES15V-SD good for hard water?
It coped adequately. After six weeks on 450 ppm TDS water the Incoloy element showed light scale, so an annual descale and anode check is still sensible.
