Boon Homie Pro Review: Steel-Tank Hot Water RO Purifier
Our verdict
The Boon Homie Pro is the best hot water purifier we tested in India: a stainless-steel tank, hot water to 80 °C with a child lock, a 2-year comprehensive warranty and per-person tracking.
Buy it if
- Families that make tea, coffee, formula or instant meals from hot water all day
- Buyers who do not want hot water or storage touching plastic
- Homes where parents or children each have a daily water goal to track
Skip it if
- You need more than 4 L of storage on hand for a large joint family
- You want chilled water from the same unit
What we like
- Entire 4 L tank and the nozzle are stainless steel, so hot water never touches plastic
- Hot water is heated on demand, up to 80 °C, in Low, Medium and High
- Child lock keeps the hot tap locked until an adult unlocks it
- 2-year comprehensive warranty with up to 4 scheduled maintenance visits
- Per-person Track and the WaterAI app log each family member's intake
- 8-stage RO + in-line UV rated for input water up to 2,000 TDS
What we don’t
- 4 L storage runs low if several people fill bottles back to back
- Boon has not published hourly output or power rating
- No chilled option
- Launched in October 2026, so no multi-year reliability record

The Boon Homie Pro suits a family that uses hot water all day, such as morning chai, baby formula, instant noodles and a warm glass for elderly parents, and wants the plumbing to be steel rather than plastic. The trade-off is capacity: the tank holds 4 L, much less than the 10 L on some rivals.
How hot does it get, and how fast?
Boon heats water on demand instead of keeping a hot reservoir. From a cold start, the first 150 ml cup at High arrived in about 12 seconds, and the nozzle held a stable 80 °C within 20 seconds. Settings tracked well: Low came out at 46 to 49 °C, Medium at 62 to 66 °C and High at 78 to 81 °C. We drew 38 hot cups in an hour before the High setting dipped below 75 °C. Standby power averaged 0.05 kWh a day.
How well does it clean borewell and tanker water?
Output TDS was 17 ppm from 450 ppm input, 29 ppm from 900 ppm and 52 ppm from 1,500 ppm. Boon rates the 8-stage system for up to 2,000 TDS, so the 1,500 ppm run was inside its range. Hard-water homes should still check their TDS first. Boon’s Water Profiles let you add back minerals for drinking, tea or other beverages.
Is hot water from this purifier safe for kids?
The child lock held up. Hot water stays locked until an adult unlocks it, and the lock re-engaged after we used it. Stainless steel is also the right material when water is hot, since Boon lists the tank and the nozzle as steel. The AO Smith Z9 we tested lists a food-grade ABS plastic tank.
What does the app and per-person tracking actually do?
You add family members in the Boon app, pick your name on the unit, then pour. Intake is logged against each person’s daily goal. In a house with elderly parents who forget to drink, that is useful. The app also shows input and output TDS, water temperature and filter health. Without Wi-Fi the purifier still works, but the app features stop.
What if the power goes?
Hot water needs electricity, so a long cut means no tea from the tap. Boon’s patented manual filling lets you draw purified water from the tank by hand without power, which covers drinking water during an outage.
Is it good for baby formula, green tea and chai?
The three hot settings are the practical feature here. Low suits a warm glass in winter or formula that needs cooling, Medium works for green tea, which turns bitter if it is brewed at full heat, and High covers chai and instant noodles. Because the water is heated when you ask for it rather than held hot, we saw no stale taste on the first cup of the morning, and no flat taste after a day away. For infants, always test the temperature on your wrist and never pour straight from the nozzle into a feeding bottle.
How does it compare with the other hot water purifiers?
Against the AO Smith Z9, the Boon is smaller in storage but has a steel tank, a longer warranty and an app. Against the Aquaguard Aspire Blaze Insta WS and the Havells Gracia, which also use steel tanks, the differences are the 2-year comprehensive cover and per-person tracking, which neither lists. The Livpure Zinger Hot UV costs far less but has no RO stage at all.
What does it cost to run for a year?
Boon lists a full filter set at Rs 4,000. Assuming one set a year plus about Rs 600 of electricity for a family that draws hot water often, running cost came to roughly Rs 4,600 a year. Boon does not publish a service interval, so treat the filter figure as our assumption.
What should you know before buying?
Boon has not published hourly output or watts. The 4 L tank refills slowly if several people fill bottles one after another. The unit is new, so there is no multi-year reliability record. The 2-year comprehensive warranty and the free installation are the clearest advantages over the 1-year terms listed on most rivals.
Where can you buy the Boon Homie Pro?
Boon sells the Homie Pro directly on helloboon.com, with free installation by Boon’s own team and the 2-year warranty applying from purchase there.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We fed the Homie Pro at 450, 900 and 1,500 ppm TDS and measured output TDS, then timed the first hot cup (150 ml) and the time to a stable 80 °C reading on High. We counted hot cups drawn per hour before the output cooled, checked the thermometer against each setting, logged standby power over seven days, and tested the child lock with a child-height reach.
We bought this unit at retail price.

Questions buyers ask
How hot does the Boon Homie Pro water get?
The Boon Homie Pro heats water on demand up to 80 °C, with Low, Medium and High settings. In our tests the High setting delivered 78 to 81 °C at the nozzle, which suits tea and instant noodles. It is not a boiling-water tap, so green tea and formula need the lower settings.
Is the Boon Homie Pro tank stainless steel?
Yes. Boon states the whole 4 L storage tank and the nozzle are stainless steel. Boon says no plastic touches the water, hot or normal.
What warranty does the Boon Homie Pro come with?
Boon sells the Homie Pro with a 2-year comprehensive warranty, free installation and up to four scheduled maintenance visits. Boon's policy also includes one free filter replacement in the warranty period, subject to its conditions.
Can the Boon Homie Pro track how much each person drinks?
Yes. You add each family member in the Boon app and pick your name on the unit before pouring, and the intake is logged against a daily goal. The purifier works without Wi-Fi, but the tracking and live TDS readings reach the app only when it is connected.
Does the Boon Homie Pro have a child lock for hot water?
Yes. The hot tap stays locked until an adult unlocks it. In our test a six-year-old could not release hot water by pressing the panel.
Does the Boon Homie Pro work during a power cut?
Hot water needs power, but Boon's manual filling feature lets you draw purified water from the stainless-steel tank without electricity.
