V-Guard BX 60 cm BLDC Chimney Review: Quiet and Efficient
Our verdict
The V-Guard BX 60 is a 60 cm BLDC chimney with 1500 m³/hr suction, gesture control and heat auto-clean that stays quiet and cheap to run, making it the best-value pick in our kitchen chimney group.
Buy it if
- Families that cook with a lot of oil and want low noise
- Homes on inverter backup that want a low-power motor
- Three- or four-burner hobs where a 60 cm hood must still clear smoke quickly
Skip it if
- You want the widest service network in small towns
- You prefer a baffle filter you can wash yourself
What we like
- Cleared mustard-oil tadka smoke in about 2 minutes 40 seconds
- Quiet BLDC motor, about 47 dB on speed 1 and 58 dB at top at 1 m
- Drew only about 65 W at top speed in our meter
- Twelve-year motor warranty is listed on the V-Guard site
- Gesture control works with oily hands
What we don’t
- V-Guard's chimney service network is smaller than Elica or Faber
- The touch panel needs frequent wiping
- Auto-clean left a thin film in the corners that needed a cloth

The V-Guard BX 60 suits families that cook oily food daily and want a quiet chimney that costs little to run. The trade-off is service reach: V-Guard is better known for stabilisers and inverters, so its chimney service network is thinner than Elica’s or Faber’s.
How fast does it clear tadka and deep-fry smoke?
Smoke from dry red chillies in hot mustard oil cleared in about 2 minutes 40 seconds at top speed, the fastest 60 cm result in our group. A batch of puris took roughly 5 minutes to clear. The 1500 m³/hr figure and the BLDC motor give steady suction even when the duct is not perfectly straight, though shorter runs are still better.
How quiet is a BLDC chimney in practice?
At 1 m we measured about 47 dB, 52 dB and 58 dB on speeds 1, 2 and 3. That is clearly quieter than the AC-motor models, whose top speed reached 62 dB or more. In a flat where the kitchen opens to the living room, this is the difference between talking over the chimney and ignoring it.
Will it work on an inverter?
Yes. Measured draw was about 65 W at top speed, roughly half of the AC-motor models we tested. On a 1 kVA inverter it ran for the whole cooking session along with lights and a fan. Low-voltage dips at 190 V did not stall it.
How does the heat auto-clean perform?
The first auto-clean cycle was needed after about 16 days of daily frying; the cycle took about 24 minutes. Over four weeks the oil tray collected around 150 ml. The inner corners kept a thin film that came off with a damp cloth. Empty the tray before every cycle.
Is gesture control useful or a gimmick?
It is useful. A hand wave changes speed when your fingers are covered in masala, and the touch panel is a fallback. Wipe the panel weekly, since oil film makes touch less sensitive.
What about installation, service and warranty?
Installation terms depend on the seller, so ask whether it is free or charged. The long motor warranty is the headline: V-Guard lists 12 years on the motor, though the product warranty period varies by listing. In smaller towns, confirm that a V-Guard service centre or authorised technician is reachable before you buy; this is the weakest part of the package.
Who should look at something else?
Choose Elica or Faber if service reach matters more than running cost. Choose the Faber 90 cm if your hob is wide and you deep fry daily.
Does the BLDC motor make it costlier to repair?
BLDC controllers are sealed units, so a failure usually means replacing the module rather than a local repair. That is why the long motor warranty matters. Keep the invoice, register the product, and note the service number before problems start. A stabiliser is not required, though a surge-protected socket is a good habit.
What would we check on delivery?
Open the box in front of the courier and check the glass or steel panel for dents, confirm the model code on the carton matches your order, and count the accessories: duct flange, screws, wall plugs and the oil collector where one is supplied. Run it on each speed before the installer leaves. Ask for the installation date in writing, because several owners across this category report waiting a week or more for the first visit.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We tested the BX 60 over a three-burner hob with a 2.5 metre duct and one bend. We timed smoke clearance after mustard-oil tadka with dry red chillies, measured sound at 1 m at each speed, metered power, ran it from a 1 kVA inverter, and weighed oil collected after four weeks of daily frying.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. V-Guard lent us this unit for five weeks and took it back. The brand did not review the text and had no say in the score.
