Kaff Lyra DHC 60 cm 1250 m³/hr Auto-Clean Chimney Review
Our verdict
The Kaff Lyra DHC 60 is a 1250 m³/hr dry-heat auto-clean 60 cm chimney that clears tadka smoke well for mid-sized families, though stock and the price vary a lot between sellers.
Buy it if
- Medium kitchens with a three-burner hob that fry a few times a week
- Buyers who want a 1250 m³/hr rating without paying 90 cm prices
Skip it if
- You need a long, clearly stated warranty from the seller
- You want a BLDC motor for lower power use
What we like
- Cleared tadka smoke in about 3 minutes 50 seconds
- Dry-heat auto-clean cycle ran without leaks
- Steady suction at 190 V on a stabiliser-free socket
- Oil collector is large and easy to slide out
What we don’t
- Kaff's own site showed it out of stock, so availability depends on retailers
- Top speed measured about 63 dB at 1 m
- Pricing varied widely across sellers

The Kaff Lyra DHC 60 is for families that cook daily on a three-burner hob and want 1250 m³/hr in a 60 cm body. The trade-off is availability and consistency: pricing and stock vary a lot by seller.
How well does it clear tadka smoke?
With dry red chillies in hot mustard oil, the haze cleared in about 3 minutes 50 seconds at top speed. The 1250 m³/hr rating gives a small edge over 1200 m³/hr hoods in our group. Smoke from a fish fry cleared from the room in around 10 minutes, though the smell lingered at the corridor for longer.
What happens on low voltage?
At a 190 V supply the motor kept running, but top-speed suction felt weaker and noise changed slightly. If your area has frequent dips, use a stabiliser or a spike guard.
How does the dry-heat auto-clean work?
Dry heat warms the internal surfaces so oil runs to the collector. We needed the first cycle after about 14 days of daily frying, the cycle took roughly 20 minutes, and we collected about 190 ml of oil across four weeks. We saw no leaks. The collector is wide and easy to slide out.
How loud is it?
At 1 m we measured 49 dB, 55 dB and 63 dB. Measured draw was about 150 W at top speed. It is not a quiet unit; a BLDC model runs several decibels lower for the same airflow.
Is it easy to buy and service?
Kaff’s website listed the model as out of stock when we checked, so you will probably buy from a marketplace. Owner feedback on retailer pages is positive on suction and mixed on installation scheduling and ducting add-ons. Keep your invoice and confirm the warranty terms with the seller, because we could not find a single authoritative statement of the warranty.
How do I install it right?
Keep the duct under 3 metres with as few bends as possible, use a 150 mm pipe unless the manual says otherwise, and mount the hood at the height in the manual above the hob. Ask the installer for a clean outlet with a non-return flap for monsoon months.
Who should skip it?
If you want a clearly stated long motor warranty, the V-Guard BX 60 is the safer choice. If you want a lower price and a smaller body, the Sunflame is a plain alternative.
Is it a good match for a three-burner family kitchen?
Yes, with limits. At 60 cm the hood is slightly narrower than a typical three-burner hob, so the far burner is the weak spot. Mount it close to the lower end of the recommended height and use the front burners for frying. For daily deep frying, a 90 cm hood or a higher-suction BLDC model is a better match.
What would we check on delivery?
Open the box in front of the courier and check the glass or steel panel for dents, confirm the model code on the carton matches your order, and count the accessories: duct flange, screws, wall plugs and the oil collector where one is supplied. Run it on each speed before the installer leaves. Ask for the installation date in writing, because several owners across this category report waiting a week or more for the first visit.

How we tested
We ran the Kaff Lyra over a three-burner hob with a 2.5 metre duct and one bend. We timed smoke clearance after mustard-oil tadka with dry red chillies, measured sound at 1 m per speed, logged watts, ran it at 190 V once, and collected oil after four weeks of daily frying.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. Kaff lent us this unit for four weeks and took it back afterwards. The brand did not review the text and had no say in the score.
