The IFB TL-RPSS 7 kg Aqua is for families who want a plain, well-supported top loader with one of the longest warranties in its class. The trade-off is a premium over cheaper 7 kg machines, without a heater or any smart features to justify it.
How well does it wash everyday clothes?
On a normal cycle with a 5 kg load, it took about 56 minutes and used around 100 litres. Dal and tea stains were removed fully, haldi left a faint trace on white cotton, and collar grime needed the heavy setting. Jeans and towels were cleaned evenly. It is a solid performer rather than a standout.
How good is a 4-year warranty on a washing machine?
For this price, it matters. A top loader’s costly failures are motor, board and drum bearings, and a longer warranty reduces the risk in years two to four. Ask the seller exactly what the four years cover, because listings do not always separate parts, labour and motor.
Is it noisy when it spins?
Wash noise was about 53 dB at one metre. At 720 rpm the spin peaked near 65 dB, clearly louder than the LG’s 58 dB, but steadier than the Godrej on uneven loads. Level the machine and keep it away from a thin partition wall.
Does it work with hard water?
We tested with borewell water at roughly 450 ppm TDS. With no heater to scale, the main concern is the drum and inlet filter. After five weeks there was a light film on the tub rim. A descaling cycle every quarter and a rinse of the filter are enough.
What about power cuts and low pressure?
It resumed the cycle after a mid-wash cut. Our test flat had steady pressure, so we also ran it on an overhead tank at low flow, where it filled slower but without an error. It has no Zero Pressure fill like the Godrej, so very weak supplies are better handled by that machine. Use a stabiliser where voltage swings are common.
How dry are clothes after the spin?
At 720 rpm, residual moisture on cotton shirts was about 56 percent. That is only a small gain over 700 rpm machines, so in monsoon weeks you will still want a fan and extra hang time.
How is IFB’s service?
IFB focuses on washing machines and dishwashers, and owners usually praise technician knowledge. Coverage is strongest in metros and large cities; smaller towns may have longer waits. Check for an authorised centre near you before you pay.
Who should pick something else?
Choose the Godrej if budget rules, the LG if noise matters, and the Haier if you need a heater.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We ran about 40 cycles in a ground-floor flat with borewell water around 450 ppm TDS and steady pressure. Loads included jeans, towels, bedsheets and kitchen cloths. We stained swatches with dal, haldi, tea and collar grime, and recorded cycle time, water per cycle, spin noise, residual moisture and power-cut recovery.
We bought this unit at retail price.
