LG T70SPSF2Z 7 kg Top Load Review: Quiet and Dependable
Our verdict
The LG T70SPSF2Z is a quiet, energy-efficient 7 kg inverter top loader with a 10-year motor warranty, best for 3-5 member families who want low fuss and wide service reach.
Buy it if
- Families of three to five who wash daily
- Flats with unpredictable voltage and frequent power cuts
- Buyers who put service reach and a long motor warranty first
Skip it if
- You need an in-built heater for hard-water stains
- You wash king-size quilts at home regularly
What we like
- Quietest spin of the five machines in this group
- Inverter motor with a 10-year motor warranty
- 5-star BEE rating and modest water use
- Simple controls that elders pick up in minutes
- Service centres in most district towns
What we don’t
- No heater, so greasy collars and haldi need a pre-soak
- 700-780 rpm spin leaves jeans damper than a front loader
- Fewer programmes than Haier or Samsung

The LG T70SPSF2Z suits a family of three to five that wants a washer which runs quietly, uses little power and gets serviced quickly when something goes wrong. The trade-off is that it has no heater and a modest spin, so it does best on everyday cottons and synthetics rather than heavily soiled or very large loads.
How well does it clean everyday Indian laundry?
On the normal cycle with a 5 kg load of mixed cottons, the cycle took about 52 minutes and used roughly 95 litres of water. Dal and tea stains lifted almost fully. Haldi left a faint yellow ghost on white cotton unless we pre-soaked, which is common for machines without a heater. Collar and cuff grime came out on the Heavy setting, and a second rinse cleared detergent residue from thick towels.
Is it quiet enough for a small flat?
This is where the LG stands out. At one metre we measured around 58 dB during the fast spin, against 64-66 dB for the other top loaders we tested. The tub stays steady on an even floor, and we saw little walking even with a lopsided bedsheet load. Place it on the supplied rubber feet and level it once; most vibration complaints in this class come from skipped levelling.
Will it work with low water pressure on upper floors?
Yes. Fed from an overhead tank on the third floor, it filled without tripping an error, though a full fill ran about two minutes slower than at ground level. If your tank pressure is weaker than that, a small booster pump is a better fix than a different machine.
What happens during a power cut or voltage swing?
We cut power mid-wash several times. The machine paused and resumed the cycle on restore instead of restarting from zero, and the inverter motor kept running through the 190-200 V dips on our test line. On a home inverter the draw is low enough for a 1 kVA unit to carry a short cycle, but check your inverter’s rating before relying on this.
How dry are clothes after spin, and does it help in monsoon?
Cotton shirts came out damp, at about 55 percent residual moisture, so monsoon drying still needs a fan or airer and a few extra hours. Using a longer spin at the cost of a few more minutes brought thick towels to a manageable level. If you dry indoors for months, a higher-spin machine will save time.
What about service and long-term reliability?
LG’s service network is the widest of the five brands here, and technicians reach most district towns within two to three days. Owner reports on retailer pages and forums most often mention the quiet running; complaints centre on the lack of a heater and, in some areas, parts delays. Hard water is the main long-term risk for any top loader, so a quarterly tub-clean cycle with a descaler helps the drum and the inlet filter. Clean the lint filter every fortnight.
Who should buy a different machine?
If you wash greasy kitchen linen or have very hard water, a machine with a heater, such as the Haier here, will clear stains faster. Larger families will prefer the 8 kg Samsung.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We ran about 60 cycles in a third-floor flat with tank-fed water at low pressure and a hard-water supply of around 350 ppm TDS. Loads were mixed cottons, school uniforms and bedsheets. We stained cotton swatches with dal, haldi and tea, measured cycle time, water per cycle, spin noise at one metre and residual moisture, and pulled the plug mid-cycle to see how it recovered.
We bought this unit at retail price.
How does the LG T70SPSF2Z 7 kg Fully Automatic Top Load Washing Machine compare?
-
Samsung Ecobubble WA40F08D1C 8 kg Fully Automatic Top Load Washing Machine B 7.6
Quieter than the Samsung WA40F08D1C at spin (about 58 dB against 64 dB), but larger families will prefer the Samsung's 8 kg drum to the LG's 7 kg.

Questions buyers ask
Is the LG T70SPSF2Z good for a family of four?
Yes. The LG T70SPSF2Z handles a family of four comfortably on daily washes of 4-5 kg, and it can take a weekly bedsheet load. For five or more people, an 8 kg machine saves a second cycle.
Does the LG T70SPSF2Z have a heater?
No. The LG T70SPSF2Z has no in-built heater, so stubborn oil and haldi stains need a pre-soak in warm water or a stain-remover paste before the wash.
Will the LG T70SPSF2Z work with low water pressure?
Yes, in our tests it filled steadily from an overhead tank on the third floor, though the fill took about two minutes longer than at ground-floor pressure.
How long is the warranty on the LG T70SPSF2Z?
LG lists two years on the product and ten years on the motor. Check the warranty card for the exact terms on your unit.
