Havells Instanio 3L Instant Geyser Review: Fast Kitchen Hot Water
Our verdict
The Havells Instanio 3L is a 3 kW instant geyser with a 6.5 bar tank that gives hot water at the tap in about four minutes, and it suits kitchens, small bathrooms and quick washes.
Buy it if
- Kitchen sinks and wash basins that need hot water in minutes
- Small families or bachelors using a bucket or two a day
- Flats where a 15 L tank will not fit
Skip it if
- You need a full bath for four people each morning
- Your inverter is below 2 kVA
What we like
- Heats 3 L from 15 °C to 60 °C in about four minutes
- 6.5 bar rating, suitable for pumped supply per Flipkart listing
- Five-year inner container warranty on retailer pages
- Wide Havells service network and spares
What we don’t
- Only about five litres at 40 °C per cycle, not enough for a family bath
- 3 kW draw trips weak MCBs and inverters
- Loses 14 °C in eight hours if left on, so switch off after use

The Havells Instanio 3L suits kitchens, basins and small bathrooms where you need hot water quickly and in modest quantity. The trade-off is volume: the 3 litre tank gives only about five litres of mixed water at 40 °C per cycle, so a family bath needs a larger geyser.
How fast does it heat 3 litres?
A full 3 L tank went from 15 °C to 60 °C in four minutes with the 3 kW element. That works out to roughly five litres at a 40 °C mix before the tank empties, and you can refill and reheat for a second round. In north Indian winters with 9 °C inlet water, heat-up stretched to about five minutes. For washing up, this is the main attraction: no waiting half an hour for a storage tank.
Does it work with high-rise water pressure?
The Flipkart listing rates the tank at 0.65 MPa, about 6.5 bar, and says it is suitable for pressure pumps. That covers most overhead-tank and booster-pump flats. Fit the supplied valve and a pressure-reducing valve if your pump is strong, and install on a wall that can hold the weight when full.
Can it run on an inverter or a weak MCB?
This is the practical problem. A 3 kW load needs a 2 kVA or larger inverter, and a 16 A MCB with proper wiring. We measured around 13 A at 230 V. On an old flat with 10 A wiring, the plug socket warmed up, so ask an electrician to check the cable. In power cuts, most home inverters will not run it.
How does it handle hard water?
After four weeks on 600 ppm TDS water, the element wore a light chalky film. The tank is stainless steel, so corrosion is not the issue; scale on the element is. Descale every six months and keep a sediment filter on the inlet. Owners report that elements are the first thing to fail, usually after the second or third year in hard-water cities.
What does it cost to run?
Because it is used for short draws, a family of four used about 1.2 kWh a day, close to ₹290 a month at ₹8 per unit. Leaving it on all day wastes energy, since the small tank lost 14 °C in eight hours. Switch off after use.
What about installation and service?
Installation is a simple wall mount with two connections, and many plumbers charge extra for pipes and a mounting plate. The Havells service network is wide and spares are easy to find. Typical complaints are leaks at the inlet nipple, overheating alerts from the thermostat, and the product’s modest plastic cover cracking after steam exposure.
Where should I mount it?
Over the sink or inside the bathroom, never above a gas stove. Leave 10 cm of clearance on each side, use the supplied bracket on a brick wall, and keep the wiring above the splash zone. A dedicated 16 A switch with indicator makes it obvious when the heater is still on.
Who should buy something else?
Buy a 15 L storage geyser, such as the Crompton Amica Pro, if you need a full bath for several people each morning.

How we tested
We mounted the Instanio over a kitchen sink and on a small bathroom wall, timed heat-up from 15 °C, collected mixed water at 40 °C, measured the 3 kW draw with a clamp meter and logged energy over a typical week for a family of four using it for dishes and short washes.
We bought this unit at retail price.
How does the Havells Instanio 3 L Instant Water Heater compare?
-
Racold Eco 6 L LPG Gas Water Geyser D 5.8
The Racold gas geyser gives continuous hot water for baths, but needs ventilation and an LPG line. The Instanio is plumbing-only and better for short, small draws.

Crompton Amica Pro 15 L 5 Star Storage Water Heater B 7.6
Buy a 15 L storage geyser such as the Crompton Amica Pro if you need a full bath for several people each morning. The Instanio gives only about five litres at a 40 °C mix per cycle.

Questions buyers ask
How quickly does the Havells Instanio 3L heat water?
The Havells Instanio 3L heated a full 3 litres from 15 °C to 60 °C in about four minutes. In January with 9 °C inlet water, expect closer to five minutes.
Is the Havells Instanio 3L good for hard water?
It copes if serviced. After four weeks on 600 ppm TDS water we saw light scale on the element, so descale every six months in hard-water cities.
Can the Havells Instanio 3L run on an inverter?
At 3000 W it needs an inverter of at least 2 kVA, and a pure sine wave type is preferable. Smaller inverters will overload or cut out.
How much power does the Havells Instanio 3L use?
For dishes and short washes in a family of four we measured about 1.2 kWh a day, around ₹290 a month at ₹8 per unit.
