Faber FFSD 6PR 12S Neo 12-Place Dishwasher Review: Basic
Our verdict
The Faber FFSD 6PR 12S Neo is a basic 12-place dishwasher that copes with plates and steel but left burnt dal and oily kadhai only half clean in our tests, so it is hard to recommend over the IFB.
Buy it if
- Small families on a tight budget who rinse heavy soil first
- Buyers who find the Faber at a deep discount
Skip it if
- You cook oily, masala-heavy food and want no pre-rinse
- You live where Faber's service is thin
What we like
- Six programmes with a half-load option
- Salt and rinse aid indicators on the panel
- Street price has dropped well below MRP
What we don’t
- Burnt dal needed a second cycle and a scrub
- Uses about 11 L per cycle, more than IFB and Voltas Beko
- Plastic and lids stayed wet
- Service reach and spare parts are limited

The Faber FFSD 6PR 12S Neo suits small households that want a dishwasher at the lowest possible price and are willing to pre-rinse. The trade-off is weaker cleaning on Indian cookware and a service network that is harder to rely on.
Can it clean burnt dal and kadhai?
Only partly. Dal dried on a pressure-cooker lid for six hours was still visible after a 2 hour 15 minute Intensive cycle, and we had to scrub the rim. An oily kadhai kept a greasy ring on Intensive, so we recommend a rinse first. Auto (1 hour 45 minutes) was fine for plates, katoris and steel glasses. Some listings mention an intensive kadhai programme for related Faber models; we could not confirm one on the Neo.
What about haldi stains and steel tumblers?
Plastic dabbas kept a distinct yellow tint after three runs, worse than on the Bosch or IFB. Steel tumblers had water spots at 280 ppm until we filled salt and rinse aid. The salt and rinse aid indicators on the panel are the best usability feature.
How well does it dry?
Poorly. Steel dried but plastic lids and bowls stayed wet, and we had to towel several items. Leave the door open for 20 minutes after the cycle.
How loud is it?
We measured about 52 dB at one metre on Auto, a little above the 49 dB listed. It hums at a constant pitch and the drain pump is audible across a small flat.
How much does it cost to run?
We measured about 11.5 L and 1.1 kWh per Auto cycle. With a tablet, salt, rinse aid and power at ₹8 per unit, one cycle a day costs about ₹720 a month, which is more than the IFB.
Does it handle power cuts?
It paused and resumed after a cut, but the heater load needs a 2 kVA inverter or more.
What is service like?
Faber is better known for chimneys and hobs, and dishwasher technicians are fewer. Owners on retailer pages complain about slow visits and long waits for parts. Confirm availability for your pin code and ask whether installation is included.
Is it ever a good buy?
It can be, when found at a deep discount by a buyer who rinses heavy soil first and lives where a Faber technician is reachable. Dishwashers save the most time on plates, glasses and light curries, and the Faber handles those. The problem is that the saving shrinks when you scrub cookware by hand anyway, so weigh the discount against the service risk.
Should I buy salt and rinse aid in bulk?
Buy a 1.5 to 2 kg pack of dishwasher salt and a litre of rinse aid at a time; both last two to three months at one cycle a day. Use only dishwasher salt in the softener, never table salt or detergent, and check the indicator weekly.
Who should buy something else?
Buy the IFB for similar capacity with better results and service. Buy the Faber Ace if you cook for one or two people.

How we tested
We used the Faber for four weeks in a two-person home with tap water near 280 ppm. Burnt dal, haldi-stained plastic, an oily kadhai and steel tumblers were run three times on Intensive and Auto. Cycle times, litres and noise were taken with a stopwatch, flow meter and sound meter at one metre.
We bought this unit at retail price.
How does the Faber FFSD 6PR 12S Neo 12 Place Settings Dishwasher compare?
-
IFB Neptune VX 12 Place Settings Free-Standing Dishwasher B 7.6
The IFB uses less water, dries better and has the stronger service network. The Faber is only worth considering when it is on a deep discount.
-
Faber FFSD 6PR 8S Ace Black 8 Place Countertop Dishwasher C 6.7
The Ace holds four fewer place settings but used less water and cleaned just as well, so it is the better pick for one or two people.

Yes. The Faber FFSD 6PR 12S Neo has a half-load option, useful for a couple, though the water saving was small in our test.

The Faber FFSD 6PR 8S Ace is an 8-place countertop dishwasher that uses about 8 L per cycle and suits one or two people, but its small racks cannot take a pressure cooker and a kadhai together.
