Beardo Ape X Prime 3-in-1 Review: Long Battery, Few Lengths
Our verdict
The Beardo Ape X Prime 3-in-1 is a USB-C grooming trimmer with about two hours of runtime and three heads, but it offers limited length control and pulls hair on coarse beards.
Buy it if
- Gifting a compact grooming kit with beard, detail and nose-ear heads
- Travel, since it charges over a standard USB-C cable
Skip it if
- You want fine millimetre length control on a dial
- Your beard is thick and coarse
- You want a service centre nearby
What we like
- Measured 112 minutes of runtime, the longest in this group
- USB-C cable included, charges from any phone adaptor
- Three heads cover beard, detailing and nose-ear hair
- Self-sharpening stainless steel blades
What we don’t
- No full length dial, so styling options are limited
- Pulled hair on three of five coarse-beard passes
- Waterproof claims vary by seller; we kept it dry
- Service is mostly online

The Beardo Ape X Prime is for men who want one small kit for beard, edges and nose-ear hair, and who like the idea of charging it from a phone adaptor. The trade-off is control: without a proper length dial and with an average motor, it is better at detailing than at shaping a thick beard.
What do you get in the box?
Three heads: a T-blade beard head, a precision head and a nose-and-ear head, plus a Type-C cable. The beard head cuts a single short length by default, so for varied lengths you rely on combs, not on a dial. That is the biggest difference from the Xiaomi 2C and Syska HT750, which have dials with many steps.
How long does the battery last?
We measured about 112 minutes when new, just under the 120 listed. After four weeks it still gave about 105 minutes. That is the longest runtime in the group and means roughly a month between charges for casual use. Charging from empty took about 2 hours.
Does it pull on coarse beards?
On three of five passes, mainly at the chin and under the jaw. The self-sharpening blades are sharp, but the motor labours in thick, wiry hair. It does better on a short beard than on a month-old one. Expect to go over some areas twice.
How good is it for edges and nose-ear hair?
Good. The precision head drew a clean line at the cheek and neck, and the nose-and-ear head was gentle without catching. For eyebrows and fine detailing, it is more practical than a full-size trimmer.
Is it safe in humid bathrooms and the rain season?
Waterproof claims differ between sellers. We did not test it under running water and wiped it dry after use. Keep it away from the shower and dry the port before charging.
How loud is it?
About 64 dB at 30 cm. The buzz is a little higher-pitched than a Philips.
What about service and warranty?
Beardo is a direct-to-consumer brand with limited offline service. For problems, you go through the seller or the brand’s online support. Check the warranty term on the box and keep the invoice, since we could not confirm it from the brand page.
Who should pick something else?
If you want a dial and a trimmer you can style with, the Xiaomi 2C is cheaper and more flexible. If you want a wider kit with long warranty, the Philips MG3720/15 is the stronger choice. The Beardo is best as a gift or a travel companion.
Is it a good gift or travel trimmer?
Yes. The compact body fits in a toiletry bag, the USB-C cable is shared with most phones and the three heads suit a traveller who needs quick tidy-ups. It is less suited to the person who wants to change their beard style every few weeks, since the length range is limited.
When buying, check that the seller ships the current Type-C version and that the box includes the cable, since older stock and look-alike listings sometimes differ in specifications.

Measured on the unit we tested.
How we tested
We used the trimmer for four weeks on a coarse beard and for nose and ear grooming. Runtime, charge time, sound at 30 cm and a short-stubble pass against a ruler were measured three times, and battery was re-timed at week four.
We bought this unit at retail price.
