Which cleans a bedroom faster?

The Xiaomi. In the same closed 180 sq ft bedroom it got PM2.5 under 35 ug/m3 three minutes before the Philips, which matches its higher listed CADR. For a typical bedroom both are quick enough; for a bigger room in peak smog, the Xiaomi’s extra airflow is the safer bet. Our reviewers would use the Philips in rooms up to about 250 sq ft in a Delhi winter.

Which is quieter for sleeping?

There is little to choose at night: both measured about the same on their night settings, and the Philips dims its display in night mode. At top speed the Philips is a little quieter, though both are clearly audible. In Auto mode each settles at a middle speed once the room is clean.

Which has the better display, sensor and app?

Both show a numeric PM2.5 reading, which is far more useful than a colour light, and both stayed close to our reference monitor, the Xiaomi slightly closer. The Xiaomi also reads temperature and humidity and lists Alexa and Google Assistant support. Neither has a gas sensor, so cooking smells do not register on either.

Which is easier to get serviced?

The Philips, clearly. Philips has the widest service network of the purifiers we tested, while Xiaomi’s is thinner outside the metros and its spare filters are mostly bought online. The Philips costs more, draws more power at top speed and comes with only a one-year warranty, so you pay for that service reach.
