Samsung MG23A3515AK 23L Grill Microwave Review

The Samsung MG23A3515AK is a good-value grill microwave for small families who reheat daily and grill starters, but it cannot bake cakes because it has no convection mode.

The Samsung MG23A3515AK is for households that mostly reheat food and want a grill for starters without paying convection money. The trade-off is plain: there is no convection heater, so cakes, cookies and pizza bases are off the table.
Is a grill microwave enough, or do I need convection?
If your routine is rice, dal, milk and leftovers plus the occasional tikka or toast, the grill model is enough and costs noticeably less. Anyone who bakes more than twice a month should step up to a convection oven such as the Panasonic NN-CT353BFDG, because trying to bake in a grill microwave produces cakes that are raw inside and dark on top.
How well does it reheat rice, dal and milk?
Two cups of cooked rice with a spoon of water took about 2 minutes 20 seconds at full power with one stir. A cup of cold milk reached boiling in roughly 1 minute 30 seconds. Dal in a deep bowl needed a stir at the halfway mark, as the corners ran hotter than the centre, a common trait in 23-litre ovens with a single turntable.
Does it grill paneer tikka properly?
Yes, with attention. Marinated paneer on the high rack took about 16 minutes with a flip at the eight-minute mark, ending with charred edges and a soft middle. Sandwich toasting took about 5 minutes. Grill Fry, Samsung’s crisping mode, gave pakoras and cutlets a better crust than plain microwave, though not as crisp as a real air fryer.
Is the ceramic cavity easy to clean?
Very. Splatter from tomato gravy wiped off with a damp cloth, and turmeric left no lasting tint after two weeks. Ceramic enamel resists rust better than painted steel, which matters in coastal cities where humidity eats cheaper cavities. Avoid scraping it with metal scourers.
How loud is it?
The magnetron fan measured about 54 dB at 1 metre, in line with most convection models we tested and quieter than the 30 L IFB and Godrej ovens. The turntable hum is audible only in a silent room.
Can it run on an inverter?
The retailer power ratings we found disagree, so check the rating label on your unit before choosing an inverter. In general, plan for a 1.5 kVA or larger unit and avoid running it alongside a geyser. On a 200 V supply the unit took about 15 per cent longer on the same reheat.
Is Samsung service easy to get?
This is a strength. Samsung runs authorised service centres across most tier-two and many tier-three towns. The 10-year cavity cover is unusual, though it covers the enamel rather than the magnetron, so read what is excluded.

How we tested
We used the Samsung MG23A3515AK for 4 weeks in a family kitchen: daily reheating, defrosting, grilling paneer and chicken tikka, and toasting sandwiches. We timed heating tasks and cleaned it after oily grill runs.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. Samsung India lent us this unit for four weeks and has no say over what we write. The unit was returned after testing.
