The Haier HRB-2764PRG-E suits elderly users and tall households that are tired of bending to a bottom shelf. The trade-off is a small freezer drawer, and a price and service network that do not match LG or Samsung.
Is a bottom freezer practical in an Indian kitchen?
For daily cooking, yes. Vegetables, curd, milk and leftovers sit at eye level, which suits households where the fridge door opens 30 to 40 times a day. The freezer drawer holds ice, frozen peas and small packs of meat but is awkward for large boxes. If you freeze rotis, parathas and cut fruit in bulk, test the drawer in the store.
How fast does it cool at 40 °C?
From a 38 °C start the fresh-food compartment reached 4 °C in about 2 hours 45 minutes, and the freezer reached -18 °C in about 7 hours 20 minutes. A week’s load of vegetables and milk pushed the cabinet to 8 °C and the inverter compressor recovered within about 80 minutes.
What happens during a power cut?
Over a 3-hour cut with the doors shut, the fresh-food compartment moved from 4 °C to 8 °C and the freezer from -18 °C to -10 °C. The freezer was hard after four hours, but ice cream softened. This is typical for the size.
How much electricity does it use?
We measured 0.88 kWh a day at 32 °C and 1.14 kWh at 40 °C. That is average for a 3-star frost-free fridge, and the inverter compressor kept the cabinet steady with fewer on-off cycles than a fixed-speed unit.
Does it cope with voltage swings?
We stepped the supply from 160 V to 260 V. The compressor started and ran reliably between 165 V and 255 V and cut out outside that range. If you see regular dips below 160 V, add a stabiliser or time-delay guard.
Is it quiet and stable?
About 40 dB at one metre in steady running, which is comparable to the Whirlpool and Samsung inverter fridges. The body is heavy at around 62 kg, so delivery crews need two people for narrow staircases. Check your door width before buying.
How good is the storage?
A 5 litre milk can, a steel atta container and a week of vegetables fit easily. The crisper kept coriander for 5 days and tomatoes for 9. Door pockets take one-litre bottles; a taller bottle sits in the lowest shelf.
What about service?
Haier service is serviceable in metros but visit times can stretch beyond three days in smaller towns, according to owner feedback. Check technician availability in your pin code before buying.
Who should buy something else?
Pick a Samsung or LG top-freezer if service reach matters more than layout. Pick a larger family model if you need a big freezer.
Is it suitable for a small kitchen?
At about 55 cm wide and 156 cm tall, the Haier fits most modular kitchen alcoves, and the door opens fully within a 90 degree swing. Leave at least 5 cm at the back and sides for heat to escape, since a fridge pushed hard against a wall in a 40 °C kitchen works harder and uses more power. We saw about a 6 percent rise in daily energy use when the gap was removed.

How we tested
We ran the Haier for four weeks in a kitchen that reached 39 to 41 °C in the afternoon, loaded with vegetables, milk and a week of cooked food. Pull-down, power-cut hold, energy and noise tests were repeated three times, and we stepped the supply from 160 V to 260 V.
The brand lent us this unit. They did not see or approve this review. Loaned for four weeks by a local dealer and returned. No payment and no say in the review.

Questions buyers ask
Is a bottom-mount fridge like the Haier HRB-2764PRG-E better?
For people who open the fridge many times a day, yes. The Haier HRB-2764PRG-E puts fresh food at eye level and the freezer below, so you rarely bend. It is less convenient if you take frozen items out daily.
How much space does the Haier HRB-2764PRG-E freezer have?
The freezer is a single pull-out drawer. It held two ice trays, a bag of frozen peas and a few boxes, which suits small households and not bulk frozen shopping.
Does the Haier HRB-2764PRG-E need a stabiliser?
It ran between 165 V and 255 V in our supply test. In areas with frequent dips below 160 V, a voltage guard is still wise.
How long can the Haier HRB-2764PRG-E hold food in a power cut?
In our test the fresh-food compartment rose from 4 °C to 8 °C in three hours with the doors shut, which is acceptable for milk and cooked food.
