boAt Aavante Prime 5000DA Review: Loud 5.1, Fussy Tuning

boAt Aavante Prime 5000DA black soundbar with subwoofer and two rear satellite speakers

Our verdict

The boAt Aavante Prime 5000DA is a 500 W 5.1 soundbar with a wooden 6.5-inch subwoofer that is loud and bass-rich for the price, best for buyers who will tune it by ear.

Buy it if

  • Hall-sized rooms that need real volume on a budget
  • Bass lovers who watch action films and cricket
  • Buyers who value big spec sheets and a wooden subwoofer

Skip it if

  • You want the most dependable service network
  • You prefer a tuned, neutral sound out of the box
  • You cannot run cables for the rear satellites

What we like

  • Very loud for the price in a large room
  • Wooden subwoofer gives deep, full bass
  • Several EQ modes for movies, news and music
  • Wide set of inputs including HDMI ARC and optical

What we don’t

  • Default settings are bass-heavy and dialogue can sound recessed
  • Rear satellites are wired
  • MRP is inflated, so judge it on street price only
  • boAt service is less proven than Sony or LG

The boAt Aavante Prime 5000DA is for people with a big hall who want a loud, bass-heavy 5.1 setup at a modest street price. The trade-off is that you will spend time tuning it, and boAt’s service network is less proven than Sony’s or LG’s.

How loud and bassy is it in a big hall?

Very. We measured about 92 dB at 2 m in a 220 sq ft hall, with the wooden subwoofer adding strong low-end for cricket crowd noise and action scenes. In a bedroom it overwhelmed the room unless the sub level was cut by half. If you live in a flat with thin walls, expect neighbours to hear it.

Is the dialogue clear on Hindi films and news?

Not at the default setting. Voices felt recessed behind the sub on songs and loud background scores. Switching to the News mode and lowering the bass fixed this, and after that dialogue was clear and steady. It is a one-time job, but many buyers may not discover it.

Do the wired satellites create real surround?

They do, with effects such as rain and crowd noise moving behind the sofa. The cost is cabling. The rear speakers need a cable run to the sub, and in a rented flat that means clips along the skirting. Dolby Atmos is mentioned in launch coverage, but there are no up-firing speakers here, so treat it as marketing around a standard 5.1 layout.

Does it work with HDMI ARC and a set-top box?

HDMI ARC worked on our 55-inch TV, with lip-sync within a frame or two after enabling CEC. A set-top box without an ARC output should go through the TV, then the soundbar through optical. We saw an occasional auto-standby after about 15 minutes of silence, a common complaint in owner reviews too.

How well is it built and serviced?

The soundbar body is plastic but solid, and the wooden subwoofer feels weighty. Owner reviews are positive on loudness and bass, with complaints about remote reliability and slow after-sales response. The MRP printed on the box is far above any real selling price, so ignore it and compare street prices across stores instead.

Who should buy something else?

If you want a more balanced sound and wider service reach, the Sony HT-S20R is the safer choice. If you want similar watts for less money, the Zebronics Juke Bar 9400 Pro is another 5.1 option, but its subwoofer and satellites are wired too and its reliability reports are weaker.
