Bajaj Rex 500W Mixer Grinder Review: Cheap, for Light Use

The Bajaj Rex 500W is a low-cost three-jar mixer grinder that suits light daily chutney and masala work for one to three people, but it struggles with big batter batches.

The Bajaj Rex 500W is for one to three people who need an inexpensive mixer grinder for chutneys and masalas and only occasionally make batter. The trade-off is power: it is slow, loud and warm on heavy jobs, and it does not like low voltage.
Can it handle idli and dosa batter?
In small loads, yes. We split 1 kg of soaked rice and urad dal into two rounds and the total took about 24 minutes, with the motor slowing as the batter thickened. That is workable once a week, but not a good match if idli is a daily breakfast.
How are masalas and chutneys?
Better. Coconut and coriander chutney came out even in the small jar, and dry spices reached a fine powder in about 150 seconds with a second pass for the harder ones. This is the sort of work the Rex does well for its price.
Does it get hot or loud?
Both. At about 85 dB it was the loudest here, and the motor body read about 80 °C after three back-to-back batches, the hottest in the group. Short runs and rests between loads are essential.
Will it work on low voltage or an inverter?
It stalled on our 180 V supply and the overload cut-out engaged. In areas with evening voltage dips, use a stabiliser. On an inverter, its low rating means a 1 kVA unit is enough.
What about warranty and service?
Bajaj lists one year on the product, shorter than most rivals here. The upside is a large service network and spares that local shops usually stock. Check the warranty card since variants and sellers state different terms.
Which Bajaj Rex should I buy?
Look for the Rex 500W with model 410162 on Bajaj’s own store. Other Bajaj 500 W models, such as the RX 500, have different warranty terms.
Who should buy something else?
Anyone who grinds batter weekly should look at the Sujata or Philips; the Philips costs only a little more and is a clear step up.

How we tested
We bought the Rex and used it for four weeks of daily chutney and masala work plus a few batter batches. The standard mixer grinder tests were repeated three times each. For batter we split 1 kg into two loads to stay within the jar limit.
We bought this unit at retail price.
How does the Bajaj Rex 500W Mixer Grinder (3 Jars) compare?
-
Philips HL7756 Daily Collection 750W Mixer Grinder (3 Jars) B 7.6
The Philips has a stronger 750 W motor, cooler running and a better score on batter, for a modest premium over the Bajaj.
-
Sujata Dynamix 900W Mixer Grinder (3 Jars) B+ 8.4
The Sujata ground a 1 kg batter batch in less than half the Bajaj's time, in one load rather than two, and its motor ran warm rather than hot. The Bajaj is only the right choice when budget and size come first.

Questions buyers ask
Can the Bajaj Rex 500W grind idli batter?
Yes, in small loads. The Bajaj Rex 500W needed about 24 minutes to grind 1 kg of idli batter in two rounds, so it suits occasional rather than weekly large batches.
How many jars does the Bajaj Rex 500W have?
Three jars. Jar material is described differently across listings, so check the product page for your seller.
What warranty does the Bajaj Rex 500W have?
Bajaj's store lists one year on the product. A few retailer pages mention a longer motor warranty, so read your card.
Does the Bajaj Rex 500W work at low voltage?
Not well. It stalled at 180 V in our test and the overload cut-out engaged. A voltage stabiliser helps in areas with frequent dips.
