These are the two 4 L air fryers from brands with the widest service reach in our tests, and both feed two or three people per batch. The Philips cooks better; the Havells is gentler on the supply and costs less.

Which crisps fries and tikka better?

The Philips. It needed a single shake for fries and gave consistent colour on tikka across the basket. On the Havells, pieces near the edges browned first, so plan on flipping at the halfway mark, and fries took about two minutes longer. Chicken tikka (400 g) took about 16 minutes on the Philips and 17 on the Havells.

Which is better on a weak supply?

The Havells. Its 1230 W heater draws about 5.3 A, and on a 200 V evening supply its preheat stretched by only about 50 seconds. The 1400 W Philips draws close to 6 A and its preheat stretched by about a minute at 200 V. Both still heated, and both belong on a 15 A socket.

Which is quieter?

They are almost the same: about 58 dB for the Philips and about 59 dB for the Havells at one metre, a steady hum you can talk over.

How do service and warranty compare?

Both brands have service centres in most cities, which is the main reason to choose either over cheaper brands. Havells reaches many smaller towns too. Philips warranty terms vary between sellers, and the two-year term suggested for the Havells on retailer pages is not confirmed on an official page, so read the card in your box and keep the invoice.
